Car Expense Calculator
About the Car Expense Calculator
Plan the full cost of owning a car: fuel, insurance, maintenance and repairs, servicing, lubrication, accessories and other costs. Enter each expense with how often you pay it – weekly, fortnightly, monthly or yearly – and get the total per period.
How it is calculated
Every amount is converted to the same period (a year has 52 weeks, 26 fortnights and 12 months) and the expenses are added. Dividing the yearly total by 12 gives the monthly budget you should set aside for the car.
Example
Fuel of 50 a week (2,600 a year), insurance of 600 a year, servicing of 300 a year and repairs of 25 a month (300 a year) add up to 3,800 a year, or about 317 a month.
